AIR 10 Preview







The AIR 10 preview was a brilliant beginning to our touring exhibition, lots of people attended the opening of the show to enjoy new work by our six designers. Here are some images from the successful event. The show will be on in Glasgow until 30th April 2010.

The first exhibition by AIR 10

Air Ten is an exhibition of new work in The Glasgow School of Art’s Atrium Gallery from April 20th-30th 2010 by the 6 accomplished designers who are currently Artists in Residence in GSA’s Silversmithing and Jewellery Department. This exhibition will be touring across the UK over the next six months all details and dates will be posted on this blog.

Jan Rooney

Jan Rooney, Jeweller designer maker, winner of Bram Stoker Medal award for most imaginative work of the year 2007. Exhibited Atlantis Gallery, Brick Lane, London along with Glasgow and Tokyo Japan. Jan's work is directly inspired by her travels in Japan, with a strong love of colour and texture she combines found object into floral forms to create jewellery that envokes memories.

Amy C Mackay


Amy C Mackay graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2009 with a first class honours degree. She creates both jewellery and decorative objects which are inspired by the natural surroundings of her home in the Highlands of Scotland. Awards include, The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths' - Precious Metal Bursary and The Strathearn Galllery Prize.

Jennifer Gray











Jennifer Gray graduated with a first class degree in Silversmithing and Jewellery from Glasgow School of Art in 2006. Since then she has lived in Glasgow, London and the Isle of Skye, working on various design projects. Her work has been exhibited at various events and venues including Dazzle, Gallery Marzee and Goldsmiths' Hall. She was recently given a Goldsmiths' Craftsmanship and Design Award for her wax modelling and carving. In addition to pursuing her own practise, Jennifer is a part-time lecturer at Glasgow Metropolitan College and is currently an artist in residence at Glasgow School of Art.

Victoria Marie Coleman




Victoria Marie Coleman Silversmith jeweller, graduated from UCA Rochester with a 1st class BA Hons, Victoria’s work is dedicated to exploring new paradigms of beauty, and it embraces practicality, aesthetics, philosophy and emotion. Winner of Gold Award, at the Goldsmiths Crafts & Design council, Victoria’s work has been showcased in Glasgow, London and Finland.

Lauren Wethers


Lauren Wethers, Jeweller and Artist, recent graduate of Edinburgh College of Art and winner of Goldsmiths’ Precious Metal Bursary, has exhibited in London, Bristol, Sunderland, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stockholm and Munich. Lauren’s work explores the composition of different surfaces and abstracted forms inspired by the eclectic mix of forms, material, colour and pattern found within and around the home.

Soizig Marie Carey


Artist and Jeweller, Soizig Marie Carey, winner of Goldsmiths Precious Metal Bursary 2009, recently graduated from Edinburgh College of Art. Soizig has exhibited in London, Bristol, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Soizig investigates narratives in her work, drawing influence from personal and cultural referencing, architecture and photography.
